Would you put your 2.5 y.o. on a log flume

Going camping and I see that they allow 36 inches on the log flume or splash mountain.  Doesn't that seem small or dangerous for a young child...

  • I would not. I am pretty sure that would be too much for them. We were at SeaWorld a few months go and I remember thinking "Heck no!"
  • Loading the player...
  • Halee went on the flume at Storyland with my sister and she did fine.  They had a 36 in requirement to

  • Well dd will be 3 next month and we have had her on it 2 times last week when we went to Dutch Wonderland Park. It is not dangerous at all. I would not let her go alone...she sat in front of me and I held her. She loved it soo much that we went on it the 2nd time. If you are scared than don't do it!
  • Call me crazy, but I did it last year. DD loved it! I held her the entire time.
  • My DS isn't 2.5 yet, but it seems a little young...

I could see maybe 3-3.5 y.o. and having an adult holding them tight. I guess I'd also take the personality of the kid into consideration. Some kids would probably love it, while others would be terrified.

  • Thats what I am thinking.  And I know the crazy feeling it gives my body, can't imagine that on a 2 year old!

  • I just didnt know if it could cause harm to a child that young.  If not then if the kid likes it thats awesome!

  • Mine did at that height and had a blast (Ethan last summer, both of them this summer). Ethan has also done a rather long wooden coaster with a pretty good drop, long water slides, anything he can ride on, he will. They have fun and I don't get what the danger is in it. They LOVED the log ride. We did it I don't know how many times this year.
  • We just went to an amusement park that had one and Preston and I both went. We sat in the front part and he sat in front of me. He loved it, but he also likes tilt a whirl, rollercoasters and the matterhorn. He is a definite daredevil.
  • I quess I was just worried about head or neck injury from the drop...I don't know...the force I guess.  I will take a look when we get there and see.

  • The drop is really smooth. They wouldn't allow a child on a ride if it wasn't safe. That's why they can't go on the bigger rides.
  • DD went on something similar last year.  She was 2 years 4 months.  She absolutely loved it; wanted to wait in line and go on it again.  Let me go find the pics I posted last year.

    ETA:  Here's the pic:

She also went on the Whizzer at Six Flags last October (almost 2 1/2 years) and loved that one too.  I'm trying to find some good pics to show what it's like.  It's a lot more intense than the simple log rides.  It's the black coaster at the bottom of the photo.
