I need an ass kicking...any takers?

Seriously. I just can't seem to find the energy/motivation to start working out again now that I'm not pg anymore.

The pg weight has come off regardless, but not as much as I'd like and I definitely need to tone up everywhere. And just be in better shape, have more energy.

I HATE waking up early in the morning to do it, especially with the broken sleep I'm currently getting, and by the time I get both kids asleep and pick up around here, water the garden, etc. I am just spent. Working out is the LAST thing I want to do, but I know it would help boost my mood even more and it's something my therapist really wants me to do again....

  • Put on the sprinkler and then take a walk around the block. Then take another lap.

Unfortunately I can't help you there.  If I were in your situation I would say well I have two kids, one who is still a newborn, I need to relax as much as possible.  I'm have a lot of weight to lose though so you may not want to listen to me.

  • Wish I could help...I'm in the same non-motivated predicament.  I just can't drag my butt out of bed any earlier and the evenings-I'm so fried.  I have to pick one and just do it.

  • I'm all for listening to your body and letting yourself rest but you need to have a plan.  You need to make yourself do it a few times before you are really going to want to do it.  YOu will see the energy benefits etc after you start.  So, maybe say that you can lay on your ass today but tomorrow no matter what you will go on a walk.  Start with every other day or something.  I wouldn't even let yourself entertain the thought of not working out on a workout day.  Just put your shoes on and go before you can talk yourself out of it.  You will never regret working out only regret not working out.

Sorry for my long speel!  GL!

  • Can you take both kids for a walk after dinner and have DH clean up?  I carry Ben in the Bjorn, push Kate in the stroller, and also take our 75 lb dog every day for a 1-3 mile walk.  It's not that great of a work out cardio-wise, but I think it helped me lose the weight.

    This is a good idea.

I agree, taking both kids for a walk is a good way to start out. For me at least, after walking a lot, my body wants to exercise more. However, if I do nothing and sit on the couch, my body wants more couch time Big Smile

Do you belong to the Y or a gym?  We have a family membership at the Y, and there is a lot for the girls too- swim classes, gymnastics, etc. I really like the kickboxing class (and the hot instructor). So far it's working out great for us.

But you really just have to get started. Once you get started, you keep wanting to exercise.

Seriously, walking is a GREAT place to start.  Step 1-charge up that ipod with some music that gets your blood pumping. Step 2-change your shoes-put on comfy, bouncy sneakers  (if not changing into "workout clothes" altogether--another way to charge up a little)  and WALK!  You can work up to faster walking, and maybe even jogging between alternating telephone poles (or mailboxes)  Some great bits--it's FREE!!! you get some sunshine on your face and some fresh air in your lungs, you can spy on your neighbors' flowers, cars, houses, etc.  and with some great music pushing you along, you can transport your brain to another place-totally free (for 30 minutes or so, anyway)
