How do you store your milk in the deep freeze?

Does anyone have a good way to organize and store their milk (in bags) in the deep freeze?  I've seen the "girft bag" storage method, but I think I need something that will stack easier, like maybe some boxes or something.  Anyone have any creative solutions??  TIA!

  • I agree that the gift bag isn't as great as everyone says.  Mine are always falling.  The only thing I can think is to freeze the milk in it's individual bag so it freezes flat.  Then put it in the gift bag.  I haven't tried though.  Hope you get better suggestions!

  • Yeah, the gift bag is great for a small amount, but I have a nice stash going for when I return to work and the gifty bags runeth over so now I just have random bags of milk falling everywhere :-(
  • I freeze in lansinoh bags and then put a certain amount of bags in a freezer bag and have the amount of oz written on the bag so I can grab them for daycare.  I just take about 25oz to daycare every monday and pump for the next day.  It works decent for me.
  • I freeze mine flat and then stand them up in a plastic rubbermaid tub.  I always freeze 6 oz in a bag, so they are all about the same size.  The tubs have lids, so I can stack them in the deep freeze.

  • First I freeze the bags flat.  Then once I have about 10 or so in my regular freezer, I put them into a larger/heavy deep freezer bag and write down the amount of oz's total in that bag and also the date ranges of the milk inside.

I think this is what I'm envisioning working for me, but I've yet to find a good box that will fit them but not take up my entire freezer.  Maybe I'll go look at another store....  or the big freezer bag idea sounds do-able too.

    Thanks for the suggestions ladies!
