I'm pretty sure I asked this several months ago, but once I read that babies should be about a year before they ride, I put it on the back burner. Now that their first birthday is approaching, I'm back into research mode.
DH and I are casual bike riders. No trail riding, but street riding around the neighborhood to get out and get some exercise. As you know, we have twins and I'm not sure if we need to get 1 or 2 trailers. Any advice on brands, experience, amount of space inside, etc. would be great!!!
Thanks!
Re: Bike trailer recs
I have this one from InStep: https://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5679650
It is okay. I've used it as both a stroller and a trailer behind the bike. I'm a casual rider as well.
It looks like there would be plenty of room for two little ones and there is about 8 inches of space behind the seat to put stuff.
It was really easy to assembly and hook up to the bike and it folds down for storage (although I haven't done this yet). I don't know how hard it would be to pull with two kids though.... my one year old and groceries almost killed me but I am seriously out of shape.
If you're using it as a stroller, it can start to tip backwards (especially when you put a couple bags of groceries in the back!). I just threw a 10# dumbell in the front and the problem was solved (I just have to remember to take it out when I use it as a trailer so I'm not pulling extra weight).
I got it NIB off craigslist and saved over $50 so you might want to keep an eye out there. I think Baby Bargains actually recommended pre-owned (craigslist, resale shops, etc) because so many people buy them and then never use them.
