I'm screwed.

Maren won't sleep in her swing anymore, which is where she took all her day naps.  She will only sleep in bed with me or on me.  Obviously, I can not hold her all day, so that she can nap.  Ughh.  I'm not sure what to do.  It's 8:45 and I am already stressed out.

She hates the swaddle and hates a sling.

Re: I'm screwed.

  • Got a bjorn or something?  Can still get things done & she can nap.

We did that with DS a LOT.  He napped in his swing a lot, too, until he figured out how to bust out of it.  I have a bjorn active that my kids rear ends are too big for if you need one.

I think that was the age when S started to take 15 minute naps in our bed (or crib for you?).  Terribly short naps but it had to do.  then around 6 mos it just got better and now she sleeps for ages and ages alone in our bed (mattress on the floor).

  • Ok, fingers crossed, but she is sleeping in her bassinet.  She keeps crying every couple of minutes b/c her paci falls out, so I have to go back in there and pop it in.

I don't care about holding her all day, if she were my only.  Noah just wants me to do stuff with him.

I have been blessed with incredibly clingy sleepers...

  • Will she sleep in the car seat carrier? I know I had to do this more than a few times with Audrey.

  • Have you tried a front carrier?  DS is the same age as Maren and he also did not like a sling.  I bought the Beco Butterfly and it is the best money I spent.  When he won't stay asleep in the pack and play, I just put him in the Beco and he is out within minutes.  It is also a great way for him to nap when we are out and about.  He gets his sleep and my high maintenance almost 3 year old gets all my attention - win, win!   DS is a very easy baby but hates the infant carrier and will not stay asleep in it once I take it out of the car so I take the Beco everywhere.

    Good luck!

  • My son would sleep great propped in the Boppy pillow on our sofa (before he could roll over).  I would squish the sides of the Boppy around him and I think, to him, it felt like he was being held.  He hated swaddling.

  • DD slept in Carseat alot (reflux issues)  She loved to be carried, but hated all carriers!  Good luck this does suck...especially with a toddler..

this was going to be my suggestion too!
  • I feel your pain Brew.  Sydney is a TERRIBLE napper.  Her skin has to be touching mine if I want a good nap out of her.  Which, with two kids, is almost impossible, unless I get rid of Ashlyn for the day.

At Maren's age, I would wear Sydney in a Moby type wrap.  Now I can carry her around in the Ergo.  She's napping in the crib right now, but that will only last for about a half hour, if I'm lucky.

  • my moby wrap saved my life for naps with #2. this from a girl who didn't use any kind of sling, wrap, carrier etc. for #1. my 2nd DD napped in her moby on me until nearly 6mos. She transitioned nicely to naps and STTN in her crib at that point. GL!
