I'm about to venture into the very uncertain world of making cloth diapers! I want to make sure baby has a natural, organic little bum! I'm a somewhat-beginner when it comes to the sewing machine but I'm up for the challenge! Anyone have any advice on this? I've been browsing the internet and found a few patterns that I am going to give a whirl but was wondering if anyone has any weird and wonderful advice!! Thanks!
Mel
Re: Anyone making their own cloth diapers??
1. Start simple.
2. Don't try to use conventional products for your diapers. Order your supplies from a diaper-specific vendor. www.kidsinthegarden.com is a fantastic resource, as is verybaby.com.
3. Don't overwhelm yourself with lofty goals of sewing 36 diapers in one weekend.
4. Have fun.
5. Embrace your new addiction. Diaper sewing is a blast.
Glad is right on:)
If you want to sew covers, get PUL and FOE (fold over elastic). Gogle FOE diaper sewing or something like that and you can find tutorials.
If you want to sew fitteds, you can practice with some cheap flannel, then move on to more pricy options.
If you are going to use velcro closures, but proper CD velcro- Aplix or Touchtape brand.
