I was just wondering how those of you that are teachers find time to pump at work. I am a little nervous about it because my plan periods (I teach in a high school) are back to back before lunch--which means that I will not have time to pump from lunch until 3 when the kids are gone. Also, where do you pump? My classroom is not very private--do you pump in the bathroom?
Thanks!
Re: pumping at work if you are a teacher
I am also nervous about this! I teach kindergarten and have 2 specials a day (which will give me some time), however I always seem to have a kid issue during those specials!
I haven't a clue where to pump yet- I was going to talk to my nurse about using one of her rooms.
I also teach at a high school, and I requested a schedule that will allow be to pump. I will feed DS around 5:30, pump during my plan around 8:30, pump at lunch around 11:30 and then either pump during my duty period around 2 or wait to feed around 3. My principal also said that I could use one of the empty conference rooms to pump.
Have you talked to your principal? Maybe there is something that can be worked out...
I asked the scheduler to give me 20 minutes between 9-11 AM and 1-3 PM. I figured that wasn't too much to ask...we'll see what actually happens when the schedule comes out.
I asked the drama teacher (who has an office) if I could use it 2x a day. Kids won't come in and I don't care if she or the other teacher who shares the office are in there. They even made me a sign for the door that says "Don't come in!"
