Problem # 1 ?- My DD was dx with reflux and is on Zantac (seems to be a low dose though, since its .25 ml and she's almost 7 lbs). ?She dozes off to sleep and every 5 mins or so, has a bout of loud grunting and squealing with arched back, etc. ?I was wondering if that might mean the reflux isnt controlled or if maybe it is gas? ?Any thoughts?
Problem # 2 - This did DOES NOT SLEEP! ?She will go 12 hour streches with barely closing her eyes. ?When she does sleep, the most I will get out of her ?is around 30 mins tops. ?She has never once slept a complete 2 hours between her feeds since she has been home (over a month now). ?I know preemies usually are pretty sleepy, but she is the opposite. ?Anyone else have this issue and what did you do?
Re: Constant grunting and squealing/ DD not sleeping at all?
We have this problem too. Our son grunts when he's sleeping if he's either trying to poop, trying to fart, has reflux, or a burp that we didn't get out. We'll burp him several times when he eats, and he'll still have a burp "stuck" in him that'll finally come up 1-2 hours later! Ugh annoying. There's nothing much we've found that we can do about it...unfortunately.
We have the 2nd problem as well. Well, DS sleep well at night (from 8:15 PM to 6 AM) but then during the day he hardly sleeps at all. He'll take agood nap from 7 AM to 8:15 AM, but then he'll sleep from 9-9:45, and then take a couple other 45 min can naps here and there. He gets progressively more tired and more difficult to lay down the later the day goes on. I dont' know why. I've tried everything. I try putting him down as soon as he's done eating to take a nap and he will not fall asleep. And even when he's super tired he won't sleep any longer. He will sleep a bit longer if I hold him..but...I don't want to start that habit since he's 3 months old now. By 8 PM, he's totally tired and ready to sleep again.
Let me know if you figure out a solution.
I've even read some sleep books and from what I can tell, we're doing everything is says to do (timing, etc.) but maybe he's just not a napper? Or maybe his reflux (he doesn't eat at night) prevents him from sleeping well during the day. I don't know.
