Yeah it does. And to answer the questions about the store bought potato salads and tuna salad...could it be because that most are made with mayo that contain raw eggs? But surely women eat mayo all the time when they're pregnant on sandwiches. Anyway, just my idea on it.

That, and the fact that they are stored at the grocery store and it's possible that they were not refrigerated as they should have been. You don't reheat them so there is no way to kill any bacteria that might grow.
Maybe they are made with raw egg mayo. I doubt that, but think there is a higher risk because they tend to be in display cases that aren't cold enough. It might also be concerns individuals preparing such foods in groceries, etc., are less likely to consistently safely handle food.
I think it's just that the risk is higher with certain foods because of the above, but if people follow good food safety guidelines, it's really very very low chance you would get listeria even from the foods people obsess over (hot dogs, cold meat, soft cheeses, etc.)
There's a point where you have to decide what level of risk you are comfortable with and how you want to deal with it. I'm eating soft pasteurized cheeses and am very comfortable with that thanks to what I read on the CDC and other websites, but am not comfortable continuing to use agave nectar as a sweetener.
I at a whole container of potato salad for the 4th!
This sounds delicious!
I ate a whole batch of German potato salad last year. That was a bad case of heartburn, but I love vinegar!
i heart potato salad...and i love vinegar even more...my esophagus will not be happy with me after that though im dying for a 6 inch sandwich with turkey, american cheese, lettuce, pickles, mayo, vinegar and jalapeno chips on it...YUMMMMMMM
