the membrane between two of them was found pretty easily, but the other one wasn't found until 22ish weeks. (but we didn't really look at the optimal time, around 12-14 weeks.)
generally, the number of yolk sacs corresponds to the number of amniotic sacs, so if there are 2 yolk sacs, you're in good shape.
Yes - early on it was said that my twins were in one sack, but had two yolk sacks. Seeing two yolk sacks I, according to what I read, is a positive sign indicating that there is probably a membrane in between. I worried myself sick about the possibility of mono-amniotic twins (no membrane), but was relieved at around 13 weeks when my peri found a membrane between the two.
I dont usually post on this board, just lurk after the loss of my twins. I found out at my 11 week appointment that I was having identicals and it was at that appointment that the doctor confirmed had mono-mono twins (no membrane) Doctor thinks that because they didnt have a membrane to separate them they got tangled up and thats the reason they didnt survive.
