A friend of mine has 2 girls named Finley and Emerson..love the names. They are PG with their 3rd, but are not finding out and dont have names picked for baby #3 yet..
Finley I don't like at all for a girl. For whatever reason it sounds totally redneck to me, and I grew up in a redneck region so I can say that.
Emerson I like, with one E, but I have known a girl named Emerson my age for years, so it pre-dates the trendiness of all of that, and she's a very smart, beautiflu woman. I also know a little girl named Emerson.
finley appears to be quite popular on the nest. i also think this name is trendy and may not sound so cute in a few years.
emmerson (definitely drop the second 'm') is okay, but ever since someone pointed out to me that names ending in 'son' mean "son of," it's hard for me to get on board with names for girls that end in 'son'.

This was my exact thought on Emmerson. Finley is becoming super trendy. It has always been my favorite girl name, but I'm probably not going to use it now because of the popularity among yuppie types like myself
Re: Finley & Emmerson... for girls?!?!
I love both of those!
but I would say I love Emmerson more
*WITH one "m."
Emerson Lorraine
both are family names. It's spelled Emmerson, but I like it better with one m too!
Thanks Ladies!
