Progesterone levels at beta...question

Is it bad for the # to go down?  It has always gone up for me in the past with each beta... but this time it was 25 at beta#1 and 20 two days later.... is that no big deal though to go down by 5?  My beta # was great though...

Re: Progesterone levels at beta...question

  • I personally would worry, but logically I know there's a margin or error with stuff like that, and within 5 does not seem to be huge. It could go down 1/4 of a percent and I would freak and post 9000 times about it. lol.  ;-)

:(  man I hope it goes up again on Friday!   My beta Monday was 632 and it was 1803 today though :)  So that is something to smile about... damn progesterone!

  • I don't think 5 is a big deal. My progesterone was on the low side-- 12 to 14 for the first few weeks of pregnancy, and it fluctuated up and down. It fluctuates throughout the day. The way my nurse put it, if it dropped from 80 to 10, they would be concerned, but little fluctuations were normal.

  • wow great beta numbers!  I try and stay positive with the progesterone numbers.  The average pregnant lady doesn't even know what her beta or progesterone levels are...they just know that they see two lines on the test.  If there was cause for concern, I am sure they would let you know.

  • They never even told me my progesterone numbers. I was focused solely on the beta itself and didn't even ask. I'm sure if there was an issue they'd tell you.
  • Mine fluctuated throughout early pregnancy...it went down with each beta, if I recall correctly.  I was on supplementation, and both nurse and doctor told me it was fine...

Try not to worry too much...I know that is hard...

  • The explanation my RE gave me was:

Progesterone levels can flucuate during the day.  You could draw it at 10 am and it would be 10, and draw it at 2pm and it would be 25...

    Or something like that.

    Not to worry love.

Amazing betas.  If my betas looked like that, I would not worry one bit. :)
