My Dr suggested this form of BC today at my 4wk pp exam and I have some questions.
1. Does it effect your ability to get pg again?
2. Pros/Cons
3. Would you recommend an IUD?
4. Hormonal kind or non-hormonal kind? And what's the diff?
I didn't get to discuss it much with him but he said to think about it and decide what I want to do and we will discuss at my well woman's in 2 months. Thanks!
Re: IUD Poll
1. I don't know yet, we'll ttc next year sometime.
2. I have the Paraguard (non hormonal) and I love it. The only con is that I still get a monthly period and for the first year it was pretty heavy and lasted about 6 or 7 whole days.
3. I would recommend it, either one I guess.
4. I think the only difference is that one has hormones and the other doesn't.
1. Says it won't
2. Pro: no pill to remember, no periods (after a while) con: I got mine a little over a month ago and am still bleeding (spotting really) but it goes away and then nothing
3. absolutely! Easy to put in and then no worries. Also for the ladies with HBP it is actually the better choice over the pill
4. Paragard is the copper iud and has no hormones, but can make your regular period very heavy and uncomfortable so if your cycle was really bad to begin with it could make it damn near unbearable, also good for like 10 years. Mirena has only progesterin but it only goes into the uterus thats why its more effective than the mini-pill and it doesn't make monthly cycles as bad and periods usually go away after a while, only last for 5 years.
HTH.
-not that I know of.
2. Pros/Cons
-Mine (Mirena- hormonal) has made my periods TWO WEEKS LONG, with two weeks between. That is a HUGE con to me. I was going for shorter periods or no period, not a LONGER one. Pros- not having to remember to take a pill.
3. Would you recommend an IUD?
- Based off my experience with it, no. But just keep in mind that it's different for everyone.
4. Hormonal kind or non-hormonal kind? And what's the diff?
- I felt more comfortable with the hormonal one. The non-hormonal one is supposed to make your periods heavier. I liked having the hormones as a "back up" in case the IUD didn't do its job.
