TTC after 35

FSH

Got my FSH results back and its horrible - 18!   Last year at this time it was 10.  The nurse gave me the results and said sometimes it comes back with a flukey high number.  I am really hoping that is the case.

I also have to get more testing tomorrow on my thyroid - my results were very elevated. Don't know how that fits into my IF.

I am so bummed.

Re: FSH

  • Ick. Sorry for the high number. But from what I understand, this is one that can vary wildly for various reasons. Would definitely be worth testing again. GL!

  • Your thyroid could be causing issues for sure. Hopefully once that is controlled the fsh will fall into line. highfsh.org has a great board where many women have high fsh & thyroid issues you may get info there.
  • Here's to hoping it was just a fluke.  Good luck!

  • Mine came back at 17, and I'm hoping its a fluke too!  There are lots of success stories out there with numbers higher than ours!  Good luck!
  • Franny and Gymdog,

I'm right here with you. I just got my results today - 17.

I was going to do a post of my own when I saw yours.

I'm trying not to get too discouraged. DH and I have a whole battery of tests in front of us still. But as you said, Franny, I am bummed!

  • highfsh.com has a list of REs that are 'high-FSH friendly'  I was so excited because mine was listed!
  • Best of luck ladies!

  • It can definitely vary for lots of reasons.  Hang in there - getting it retested will give you more info.  There is still lots of hope
  • PS:

I really hope your results were just a fluke. I just re-read your post, and it really seems highly probable.

    Keep us posted!

Sorry your bummed :( ?I too have elevated FSH/TSH levels. I hope it is a fluke and your next test comes back with lower results.

  • Sorry about the FSH results. Hopefully, it is related to your throid and once you get that in control the FSH number will go down.  Good luck!
