I thought 4.5 months but my sister insists i'm already 5 months.

im so confused and was told there would be no math involved in this pregnancy. lol

Re: so if i'm 18 weeks pregnant, how many months am i?

  • I think 20 weeks is like 4.5 months..just if you figure every 3rd month has five weeks or so..ehh, whatever..I just make it up as I go along..
  • Loading the player...
  • I thought it would be 4.5 months too....
  • you're IN your 5th month. its very confusing. google pregnancy weeks vs months & charts explaining it will come up. it still doesnt make much sense to me.
  • Most of the things Ive read say that 18 is the first week of the 5th month, so you would be 5 months. However, "What to Expect When Expecting" lists week 18, 19, 20, 21 AND 22 in the Month Five chapter so Im also very confuddled on the math. How are there five full weeks in one month???!

  • According to What to Expect When You're Expecting, at 18 weeks, you are beginning month 5.  23 weeks marks the beginning of month 6.

  • This is how I measure:

    LMP: 3/8

    1 month: 4/8, 2 months: 5/8, 3 months: 6/8, 4 months: 7/8, and so on. I'm 17w3d so I'm exactly 4 months.

  • you are in the middle of your fifth month. you have completed four and a half months (counting from "week one"), and when you hit 20 weeks, you will have completed 5 months.

think of it similar to babies' ages.  if you have an 18 week old, you would say they are four and a half months.

    Five Months- 18-21weeks -
    Six Months- 22-26 weeks -
    Third Trimester
    Seven Months- 27-30 weeks -
    Eight Months- 31-35 weeks -

  • This is why I stick to weeks.. lol
  • There are more than 28 days in every month (except February), which means there are more than 4 weeks in every month.

You are technically IN your fifth month, but you are NOT five months pregnant. When you're in week 3, for example, you don't say you're one month pregnant since you haven't completed that first month. Same goes for now. You haven't completed your fifth month, you're still 4 months and some weeks pregnant.

Just went to this one and it does make sense-thanks! I have also been confused...

  • You are 4.5 months, but in your 5th month because you've already completed the first 4. Does that make sense? I'm 26 weeks, so that's 6.5 months, but I'm in my 7th month because I've completed 6 already.

16 weeks=4 months, so anything over 4, even one week, would constitute being in your 5 month.

I hope any of that can straighten it out for you.

  • u are RIGHT.

    your're 4.5 months pregnant.

We are all pregnant for 10 months. 40 weeks. (4 weeks a month).

  • I just want to let you know that I?m showing this post to my husband tonight b/c he makes fun of me for being confused on this exact issue. This will prove that I?m not the only one that struggles w/ knowing what month I?m in. Thank you!! J

There are more than 4 weeks in a month. This month (July) has 4 1/2 weeks. June had 4 1/3 weeks. August has 4 1/2 months.

The only month that has exactly 4 weeks is February (except leap year).

There are 52 weeks in a year, 12 months in a year, which means that on average, every month has 4.33 weeks, NOT 4.

  • I count backwards from my due date.  I'm due 11/29. So on 6/29, I had 5 months to go... meaning I was 4 months along.  So today, I'd say "I'm almost 4 1/2 months".

  • Id say about 4.5, maybe she meant you are IN your fifth month?
