Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Going on the potty

My DS is only 18 months old so I am in no hurry to PT him but he is already showing signs.  He started off by telling me after he went poop in his diaper.  Now he tells us when he has to go poop, not pee.  However, he has no interest in going on the potty. I sit him down on his potty but gets right back up and poops!  I don't want to ignore him everytime he tells us he has to go potty though. So what do I do? I wasn't expecting this so soon.

Re: Going on the potty

  • Just keep doing what you're doing, I think eventually he'll go no the potty.

FWIW my DS kept getting up from his potty also but he doesn't get down from the potty insert so we use that most often. I figure we'll use the actual little potty when he's really potty trained and can go in, undress, sit, and go all by himself.
