How to NOT go into labor?

My c-section is scheduled for Monday, the 13th and my husband has requested that I not go into labor on my own before Saturday at the earliestWink According to him,(and his apparently vast knowledge of obstetrics?), if you can naturally induce labor by vigorous sex, walking, castor oil, etc., you should also be able to halt the onset of labor by "taking it easy". I've sent the memo to my uterus and Callie, but I'm thinking it will be ignored by both.

I had Ben at 38w1d and Emily at 38w2d. Looky at my ticker.... I've been having real contractions all day, but none have been timeable. I've started losing my MP(blech) and I'm starting to feel the nesting urge. We shall see! I hope I make it to my scheduled c-section on Monday, so please send me "no-labor" dust Wink

  • Lol at your post, esp your memo and Dr. Dan's comments. ;)

  • I don't think there's much you can do. Sometimes relaxing will actually start labor, too. A nice, relaxed body is perfectly ready for labor!

  • wow that went quicckly!!! good luck!

unlabor dust to you. ( but not enough to make you go a month late!)

  • Holy moly woman, your pregnancy went by so fast! I really would like to sprinkle no-labor dust, but I really am excited to see little Miss Callie! LOL. I bet you're so done with being pg in the summer?? I hope you can make it!!!!

  • Actually, Wifey, it hasn't been as bad as I expected it to be! We've only had a few unbearable heatwaves, but otherwise, I've been pretty lucky, I don't *want* to not be pregnant anymore...I'm completely uncomfortable and excited to see her, but I know this is my last, so I'm really trying to enjoy the parts of pregnancy I like=) I can't believe it's over already! It completely sped by.

  • Hey, weren't you asking about VBACs a couple of months ago and joking that maybe you'd just labor at home for a while? ?:) ?In that case, you'd want to go into labor before your c/s!

I thought for sure I'd go into labor with Thomas by my due date, since I did with the first two. ?I was all prepared to have a VBAC, and my OB was willing to wait a few more days at least. ?I got impatient and just scheduled the repeat c/s for my due date. ?After months of contractions, there was nothing going on that day. ?Hope the same happens for you!

  • Well that's great! I guess it's a bit hotter here in Vegas, eh? I was pg through the summer here and I was miserable! I can see why you'd be enjoying every last minute though. It's so amazing to be pregnant... Aubrey came early and I didn't expect that so when she was a couple of days old I started balling my eyes out because I wasn't ever going to feel her kick again. So, I feel ya but I am so excited to see little Callie and hear stories of how B & E are with her. =)

  • I completely understand your DH's request. What worked for me w/ both babies was just telling them they couldn't come until x date. Both listened. I told #1 that I needed at least a week of maternity leave before he came. Lo and behold, he was born exactly 1 week after my leave started. I told #2 she couldn't come until March 22 (scheduled for 3/24) b/c her brother's b-day was the 20th, and we were having his party on the 21st. Guess what, in the early hours of the 22nd, I went into labor and she was born that morning. Maybe it's coincidence, but it worked both timesBig Smile
