Re: Which is your favorite girl name?

  • Well Caroline is my #1 girl choice, so I am biased. Evelyn is a nice name too and not as popular as Caroline is.
  • I've always loved Caroline. It's a beautiful name. I'm not crazy about Evelyn.

  • Obviously, I love Evelyn, but I think Caroline is really pretty, too.  And I love Virginia.  I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

  • I like Caroline better.

For some reason, when I first saw #2, I thought it seemed too...chaste?  LOL.. Eve + Virgin...

  • I didn't even think of that! Not my intention at all, thanks for pointing it out!

They are both beautiful names. ?I would go with Evelyn, but you really can't go wrong either way. ?Evelyn is just a bit less common. ?And you could call her Evie, which I love.

Yes, this is why I think I like the name, love nn Evie.

i know it's Caroline not Carolina, but Caroline Virginia is awfully close to two states in a row.  i'd pick Evelyn or another m/n.  JMO.

Yeah, I thought of that regarding the states. But the middle name is non-negotiable, it is a family name. But if you have any other first name suggestions I'd love to hear them. I am just not completely sold on either and it is getting close, I am starting to feel panicked!

  • I like them both, but I vote for Caroline. You can't go wrong with either.
  • Both are pretty. I'm partial to Eleanor Virginia, DH's grandma's name, because she was a special person, so I vote #2 but really you can't go wrong.

The only TINY thing I'd mention is that Caroline Virginia is almost like naming her two states. :)

Oops! I didn't see that'd already been said. Oh well!

I thought of the states thing, too.  If the m/n is non-negotiable, I would pick a different f/n.  Sorry, b/c it is a beautiful name!

  • Caroline Virginia is too much like Carolina Virginia.

So Evelyn Virginia ... but that seems like too many Vs.

Both are pretty, but seem not quite there.

  • I like Caroline as a fn, but I'm not wild about Virginia as a middle name.

I love them both.  Slightly partial to Caroline, but I could go either way.  I think the popularity thing might be regional though, because according to the SSA, Caroline is ranked 94th nationally and Evelyn is 54th for 2008 in name popularity.  Just thought I'd throw that out there in case name popularity is a factor for you.
