Ok...now I'm on a roll with these old pics ...

I had totally forgotten about all of these photos.

Waiting for the next contraction.

  • Those are great.  I wish I had pics like that with DD.  She was born within 15 minutes of making it up to L&D and it all just happened so quickly.

  • Ok this just brought back some BAD memories! And here I was being nostalgic, thanks for snapping me back into reality:-)
  • Holy cow!!  I thought my 4.5 hours was fast (in retrospect....at the time, it felt like an eternity.)

I couldn't feel my toes due to my epidural and I really wanted to move them, so DH was kind enough to spread them apart for me.  :)  I have another pic of us both texting during labor, but it's on my computer at home.  SIL didn't take any pictures once I started pushing.

  • We don't have pics from the pushing point either.  By then, DH was too busy sacrificing his hand for my clenching pleaure and my father disappeared from the room once my labor pains got pretty bad because he couldn't handle seeing me in pain.
  • Oh believe me, 4.5 hours is fast.  I had a 4 hr 15 min labor with DS and a 2 hr 15 min labor with DD but they didn't move up to L&D until I reached 5 cm and by the time I got up there I was already fully dilated.  My OB tol dme my labor would be half the amount of time but I didn't think it was possible.  But I know lots of women who are jealous of my labor when I was induced with DS.  It does feel like an eternity when you're having contractions though.  Wink

LOL I wish I was. 7 hours of non-stop pain and feeling pushing...ugh makes me sick just remembering. There are a few bad things about being able to have a waterbirth! In a perfect world I'd have an epidural and then get in the tub!

I didn't do the water birth, but I did med-free.  Now, I can't, for the life of me, remember why that seemed like a good idea. 4th degree tear and then some.....I can't tell you how excited I was when my dr. told me I need to have a c-sect. next time because I can carry babies with the best of them, but my body's not made for birthing.  HALLELUIA!!  I think I heard the angels sing.  (not that a c-sect. is easy or painless, but with it, I'd be forced to take meds.  LOL).

I will never do med-free in the hospital. NEVER. If I have to have my baby in a hospital I will accept any drug they have. I was in the room with my sister during her birth, and with all the monitors and restrictions there was no way in hell I was going to do that. Which is why I went to a midwife. They work with you so much more about getting into comfortable positions and the water (which DID alleviate some pain).

I'm sorry about your 4th degree:( And its good to know what to expect next time!

Due to my age and my m/c history I couldn't go back to the birthing center I wanted to use.  :(  I would have loved to use my original midwife.

  • Ugh, I'm sorry Creamy! I hate when you can't have the birth you want. Which is sad because so many of my friends would have loved to have midwives, but because of complications and soforth they weren't able to. I consider myself very lucky to have the birth experience I had. Even being as painful as it was, my or DD's life was never at risk, and I'm so thankful for that!

I love that you got the birthing experience you wanted.

Oops, didn't finish.  I don't think I really knew what I wanted, besides to "have the baby." lol
