SA??

I was just wondering for those of you whose husbands have had a SA how long it generally took to get results and if you got the results over the phone? My husband went a week ago, we just got a call today to set up an appt to come in and discuss the results which isn't for another week. Is that normal?? Any insight would be appreciated, thanks

My OB ordered the SA for DH, and gave us the results over the phone, two days after DH submitted the sample.

He got them same or next day off his medical page on Kaisers website

My experience was just like yours. DH went in to give his sample, and a week later, I got a call to come in and discuss the results in person a week from then.

Relax, hopefully it is just your doctor's protocol.

That all sounds about right....now im panicking thinking something is really wrong if they can't just tell us over the flipping phone! ugh...poor dh hes thinking the worse

the first time it was ordered by our general practitioner, and we got the "basic" results over the phone. (It's low motility...e tc.) we went to the office and picked up the results so we could see the numbers.

The second one isn't back yet.

The third is a manual being done at our RE's office. I dropped it off this AM... they said it takes a week, which I found sort of weird. The ones from quest only take a couple of days. So, I'll call on friday and double check... b/c they made me make an appointment to drop it off, so I kind of assumed it would get done today.

I've always been given the results over the phone. We usually have to wait three days.

If it makes you feel better...DHs SA came back abnormal and they gave us that info over the phone.  So, I would jump to any conclusions. 

About going into the office, I hope they aren't having you come in just to charge you for another office visit.  My GP used to do that all the time (and is no longer my GP).  My OB is very popular and busy, and always more than happy to discuss test results w/me over the phone.  Maybe you should ask?

Don't freak out just yet!  My DH had his done, the restults were in a few days to a week later (I can't remember).  I called to check to see if they had been sent to the dr yet, they had and we had to make an apt to go in and talk to the dr about them. 

DH's results were impressive, and pretty much perfect.  Just because you have to go in to get them doesn't mean that it is bad news.

thats the first thing i thought of! they want another co-pay ha! thanks ladies you are making me feel better!!

I would also like to say that if you are seeing a GP or even an OB/GYN they make the results sound worse than they are.  We were refered to an infertility urologist b/c DHs morph was only 4% normal (14% being the goal).  When we saw the IU, he was super impressed w/DHs results b/c his count and motility were very high, and said that you can donate sperm w/numbers like these (our RE agreed)...So, if you do get some bad news wait until you get a confirmation test, or a 2nd opinion (if you're refered to a specialist) before coming to any conclusions.  Also, remember that you will have options no matter what!!! GL.
