Parenting after a Loss

push walker

ds loves to pull himself up on everything and is getting really stable at 'standing'.  i would love a push walker thing but want one that is very stable and has wheel that you can control the 'speed'.

as of now he pushes cardboard boxes around, but they aren't stable.

any suggestions?

Re: push walker

  • We have a little wagon from Ikea that has adjustable wheels (by that I mean they can be tightened so that it's hard to roll or vice versa).  Several of our playgroup friends have toys that are walkers- probably Fisher Price or something similar.  You could probably find them at Toys R Us or Target.

  • MIL gave us this:

and DS LOVES it.  Its very sturdy and stable, he can't pull it over on himself.  You can't control the speed on it per se, but when he first started pushing it around I walked with him and made sure it went slow enough.  It didn't take him long to be able to do it on his own.  The only thing I don't like about it is that its so heavy that he can't change direction with it on his own (yet).  My friends gave us another one that they received as a hand-me-down which is much lighter and he can change direction with it...but the first few times he used it he pulled it down on himself a lot bc it was so lightweight...so not as heavy or sturdy...tradeoff I guess.

But the radio flyer wagon was a perfect 1st pushtoy for him and he still loves it!
