Who has been to Galena?

Hi everyone!

My husband and I are looking to go to Galena for a couple of nights (without LO) and are looking for recommendations for places to stay. If you have been, could you tell me where you stayed and what you thought of it? Also, what did you do while you were there?

We stayed in the Grand Romance Suite.  It was beautiful and spacious with an awesome and extra large Jacuzzi tub.  The breakfast was wonderful, they have fresh baked cookies, and a cooler full of ice cream.  They are wonderful people and you would truly enjoy yourself.

We stayed at the Eagle Ridge resort.  We had a room with a fireplace (although I'm sure you wouldn't need it now) and it had a great view.  We went to the spa onsite for a couples massage; wonderful.

They have great deals on their website and great hiking trails.

We stayed at the Irish Cottage a couple times and loved it. It's a little outside of the main shopping area but not too far. I like that hotel because they have a bar/restaurant with live entertainment on the weekends, which is nice if you don't feel like leaving for dinner.

We've done shopping, wine tasting (pre-pg!)  and tried several different restaurants while there. Also the field of dreams isn't too far away in Dyer IA (I think that's the town name). 

This...Loved the Irish Cottage.   Dyersville, IA is where field of dreams is.  Also there is a casino in Dubuque

Eagle Ridge, not the resort but one of their rental houses.  We've stayed at a townhouse (just the two of us) and a house (a big group).  Tons of fun!

My husband & I have been there several times. The last time we went, we stayed here and were pleased. Room was clean and hotel has a great rustic theme. We were happy with our stay!

We did the same.  And I think the bike and canoe rentals were included.  Really a nice place.  Go on a balloon ride too if you get the chance ... I think it'd probably be pregnancy safe!

I also recommend Stillman Inn. I think we stayed in the same room. I remember after the first night there, we had love cakes (heart shaped pancakes) for breakfast. It was great. The couple who run it are very sweet and are very helpful if you are looking for things to do in the area. I look forward to going back someday.
