Yes! I had bunion surgery on both feet. I was 14 and 15 at the time though and didn't have to chase around toddlers, so I probably healed a bit faster because that was my only priority. The first week was rough, but it got easier. I think I had the walking boot (the soft shoe that velcros) on for about 6 weeks. Good luck and let me know if you have any other specific questions!
I had both feet done at once - I was 13. I didn't have a plaster cast - just the blue boots. I think I had them on for 4-6 weeks. I agree with the PP - the first week or so was the worst.
I had bunionectomies done on both sides of my feet (big toe and pinky) in '98 and '99. Again, I wasn't chasing around any toddlers at the time, but honestly the recovery was easy easy easy. Mine were REALLY bad too, because I was a dancer and all that pointe work wrecked my feet.
I spent three days in bed both times, and then had crutches for either 6 or 8 weeks, I can't remember. But it was only maybe two weeks of being unable to bear weight on each foot, then I just used the crutches so I didn't put my whole weight on when I walked.
And I honestly had ZERO pain, unless I tried to do too much on that foot. But then it would stop the second I took it easy. I never had to wear the boot, just the lovely blue shoe!
Yup I had this too, once in 91 and again in 94. 6 weeks for both casts. I think the worst part for me was getting the cast off...not that specifically but your leg turns into jello (it's so weird). Getting the stitches out was a major b*tch too. But maybe they use the dissolving ones now...
Re: Anyone have foot surgery?
My mom had them done last year. Are you having both feet done? She only had 1 foot done because the other didn't give her problems.
She was in a cast, I want to say for a month.
