Phenergan for m/s?

Anyone take it? Did it help?

My OB prescribed it today for my awful m/s, but I'm a bit reluctant to take it right now because it "may cause drowsiness" and it's just me and the boys at home right now.

I'm just really hoping it helps. Oh, and as a side, as if morning sickness isn't bad enough, I pulled a muscle in my neck. By throwing up. Who woulda thought?

Re: Phenergan for m/s?

  • That's what they gave me before giving me zofran.  It worked but I only because it knocked me out cold the whole time I was on it.  Wait until someone else is around to watch the kids before you take it.

Sorry about the neck!  Totally insult to injury -- or would that be injury to illness?

  • I took phenegran with my first pregnancy.  It helped a ton.  But it did make me sleepy.

With this pregnancy, I had better results with the unisom+B6 combo.

Good Luck.  Sorry you feel like crap.

  • I'm allergic to Zofran which is the most common prescription for m/s, so I had to take Phenergen with my first pg. It made me extremely drowsy, so much so that I didn't take it. I tried it again with this pg, thinking maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but it was. Then I was in the ER for dehydration and they gave me a half dose (12.5mg instead of 25mg) and it took the edge off the nausea and only made me moderately sleepy. I still only take it though when I really have to.
  • I could only take it at night, as it put me right to sleep.

I was given Zofran for the daytime.

  • I had nasty ms too!!!! i popped blood vessels in my eyes several times!!! So horrible... They gave me the phenergan that you rub on your wrists... and it helped during my pregnancy with peyton.. nothing helped the first time..
  • Phenergan knocked me clean out.... I took it one time during the day and that was a huge mistake. I took Zofran after that.

He gave me the 12.5 dose.

Thanks everyone! It's good to know to wait for the hubs to get home. I appreciate it : )

  • I loved phenergan. I was lucky that my mom watched my kids when DH was working for the first part of my pregnancy. I was also on zofran (pills did not help, the pump did), but the phenergan knocked me out so I couldn't feel it. I couldn't function without it (or with it, but at least I wasn't laying in pain from nausea in my bed!)
  • Since I can't seem to take phenergan and function I went straight for the Zofran. ?Lord knows staying awake and alert during that first tri was hard enough. ?Zofran helped tremendously!
