Nathan? 

I LOVE the nickname Nate but Nathan and Nathaniel are NMS.  What do you guys think?  DS is Jack and I think Jack and Nate would be cute together.

It's one of my brothers' names - love it!  I don't like Nathaniel nearly as well.  My brother has always gone by his full name, but Nate is a cute nn and goes well with Jack.

I really like Nathan. I think both Nathan and Nate sound good with Jack.

 

FWIW, DH is a Nathan and he despises the nn Nate. If you use it, I suggest giving DS the full name and letting him choose which name to go by.

Back in the day, nicknames weren't a planned thing.

I agree that Nate is great, but the longer versions aren't.  Just use Nate.  No need to use a full version of a name if only the nn will ever be used.
