Mine are still on there...it has been 10 days. I feel like they are holding things together down there, so I am nervous about taking them off. Doc said they shopuld just fall/peel off, but mine have not yet. Should I take them off, or let them be?
I can't totally remember, but I think it was about 10 days when I took them off and I was amazed at how much better I felt after I took them off. My doctor said to take them off.
My doc said they would fall off on their own, or take them off when they started peeling. Mine never did, so she took them off at my 6 week checkup and it HURT!
Mine started to peel away just two days ago. I have a hematoma along the incision and there has been quite a bit of bleeding, so things are staying moist along the incision, too. I'm sure that's helping the strips disintegrate quicker.
Now that most of the strips are gone, the incision surprisingly looks very sturdy and sealed (excepts where the hematoma is leaking) so I'm not worried about it "holding things together."
Mine were put on at the one week mark when my staples came out and I took them out at the two week mark. Take them off in the shower or it will hurt a lot.
my stitches were removed 72 hrs after surgery, and the dr told me i could take my steri strips off 24 hrs after that (in the shower), but i was scared, so i waited an extra day.
Mine were put on 4 days pp after the staples came off and the doctor took them off at my two week pp appointment. Some of them had already started to fall off already at that point.
At the hospital I was told they should come off at one week..I had disposable stitches though so I don't know if that is different than having staples. But he also advised me to "please do not show up at your 6 week appt with them still on." I had a good laugh because I definitely would have left them on if they didn't fall off. That being said, i waited until two weeks. Im glad I did it then, they are majorly irritated my skin. It was raised and itchy!
I don't have steris, but the rule of thumb is that you leave them tll they start to come off on their own. If you can see that all is well when they start to come off, you can remove the others, but I would suggest waiting till next week if you can hold out.

i had mine put on the day i left the hospital, and they told me they'd start to peel off on their own and should fall off in 7-10 days and after that time i could just peel them off. Mine didn't come off all the way on their own (they were criss-crossed, and some were peeling off, bugt couldn't fall all the way off becuase of the criss cross) so i took them off the rest of the way around 14 days or so and was glad i did...it was so much more comfortable and less itchy. GL!

I took mine off 2 days after my c section.. I was told it softens up in the shower so they told me to run warm water to help it..

I had 3 steri strips put on in the center when I had my staples removed. I went to the OB last week because I was having some leakage and she removed them. It definitely hurt!
Re: C-section moms, when did you take off your steri strips??
The nurses told me if they were still on there after 3 weeks that I could take them off, but otherwise to not touch them.
That being said, I think about half of mine came off around 2 weeks pp and when I saw that everything was ok under those, I took the rest off.

ETA: I hate the word moist. blech.
^This. Most of mine had fallen off, but at about 5 1/2 weeks I got sick of them and pulled off the last 4. (They were peeling off anyways.)
