Is Target getting rid of maternity??

I went there to find things since Walmart has now phased their maternity section out. Found like 3 racks of things at our Target- tees, shorts, swimsuits. So I was getting ready to leave and stopped by the womens clearance and that's where they were hiding the maternity! But it was all 75% off (not complaining but geez they had more selection in the clearance than the actual department!)

So I got a black cotton dress, a pair of jeans, 2 summer blouses, 2 sleeveless shirts, pair of shorts, and a hoodie ALL for $45!! awesome!

Re: Is Target getting rid of maternity??

  • This is actually a really good question.  I was just there yesterday and absolutely EVERYTHING in maternity was clearance.  Unfortunately, it wasn't anything that I needed so I didn't get the bargains like you did!

  • I was wondering this, but hadn't heard anything. ?I was hoping to find some pants at my local target and came out with the little side ruched (sp) shirt that everyone on here was talking about.?

Sucks. ?We have no maternity available around here :( ? There is a Motherhood in macy's but it's outrageous and I am not spending that on something I'll wear for 3-4 months and then get rid of. ?

  • hmmm, I will have to check my Target again soon.  I was there about a week ago and they still had the maternity section and almost nothing on clearance....Now I'm curious.  I just can't see them getting rid of maternity, but who knows?!?

  • great score!  The Target by me tends to put things on clearance really quickly, you have to search for it though.  I think there are about 4 racks of newer maternity stuff at my local one.

  • I hope not!  My local old navy just did away with their maternity section and if my target does too that means I'm going to have to travel to get stuff and pay more!  Maybe I should see if I can go stock up like you!

I was at 2 Targets over the weekend and both of them still had maternity and nothing on clearance. I will say that I've noticed that both the maternity and baby options really vary store-to-store. The one closest to me sucks in both of those departments (which is surprising because it's in a nice area of town where there is a ton of shopping traffic.)

  • I'm not sure.  I went to Target and Walmart over the weekend looking for clothes and found out that Walmart doesnt have any maternity anymore and I only found 1 tee shirt.  So annoying.  I am too cheap to spend $30-40 bucks on a stupid shirt I can only wear for a few months.  I dont even spend that much on NORMAL clothes.  UGH.

Exactly! I won't spend $40 anymore on stupid maternity shirts, that's ridiculous. The ones I found on the clearance were around $5, that's more like it!! :) I'm going to check out Ross too.

This!  I wish there was an entire Ross type store dedicated to maternity so I could get shirts for $10 and pants for $15 like I usually do.  I hate Motherhood's "customer over-service" and spending $40 on jeans!!  Now that Old Navy, Walmart and Target are slimming down their mat sections, I'm screwed!

  • Oh gez, I hope not!!

I thought I would add that I was in Gap maternity this weekend and came across a bunch of good deals.  I got 3 sweaters for $5 to $8 and I got a pair of pants for $21.  You may want to check them out!

  • I went to target yesterday and they had no maternity on clearance at all.  Maybe some stores are cutting down on maternity?  Ours has barely any as it is.

  • If youhave a smallish mat section maybe they are just trying to sell the summer stuff for the new fall roll out...
