If you do blueberries as a finger food...

do you cut them up or give them whole?  DD loves them puree'd and I've heard so many moms say that they are a good finger food, but they look too big to give whole.  Just curious.  DD LOVES to feed herself, so I'm looking for new options.  TIA.

  • we cut the big ones in half, but if there are little ones in the package, we will give them whole and DS is fine with that.

  • DD just ate them this morning. I half them, and the huge ones, I quarter. Today was her first time eating them as a finger food, so probably next time I will do them whole (as she appeared to do just fine with them.)

  • I cut them because otherwise she swallows them whole.

  • I cut them in half.
  • No, she does fine with them whole... even the large ones. At first she used to squish them but she just pops them in 4 at a time!

  • Cut 'em. My nephew, who is nearly 2, just choked on a whole blueberry a few days ago. If he can, so can my 10 month old. Incidentally, they are about the same size, but he's been eating table foods for over a year.

    This.

  • When I first started giving them, I would pop them--particularly the big ones.  I never cut them though.
