How does your family celebrate independence day or 4th of July weekend?

    <hangs head> We actually don't. Our anniversary is today, but I worked all weekend and my DH is visiting his family.

    I get our family together and we all go to a certain swimming spot as tradition. (My grandpa used to take everyone each year). I was really close to him and want to keep that tradition going. We BBQ and swim all day ... then come home to watch fireworks and shoot them off!

    We really only do a day of fun ... not a weekend! lol

    The last 2 4th's my DH has been on the boat working so we've celebrated a little earlier. This year on the actual 4th my DD and I went to a friend's town celebration and had a ton of fun!

    We generally travel to see family over the 4th long weekend for a big reunion of sorts. Lots of food, fun, and family time. 

    This year, however, not everyone could travel so we stayed home and had a small gathering at SIL's house.
