Neat that they were the same weight/height! Was your son full term, too?! Mine was a month early!
Uhm, my delivery was... interesting. Around 36 weeks I noticed Cole wasn't moving as much as normal and they sent me in for a NST, which at first he passed with flying colors, but as I laid there more (waiting for them to wheel me down for a quick ultrasound) his heart rate started dipping. The u/s revealed that he was breech, and when I was put back on the monitors his heart rate was still dipping. All of a sudden, a nurse rushed in and took away the water they had me drinking, and a few minutes later another nurse rushed in and put an oxygen mask on my face. (At which point my DH and I looked at each other and exchanged "Uh oh" looks!) Then my nurse came in and put an IV in my arm and I asked "Are they going to admit me?" and she said yes, but nothing else.
Then all of a sudden, my OB walked in and said "Okay, lady, that baby's heart rate has earned you a c-section... like, now." Cole was born less than an hour later! It turned out he had a short umbilical cord and whenever he had turned breech, he started tugging on it which was depleting the blood supply through the cord and causing his heart rate to dip. My doc said as he'd have continued to grow, the blood flow would have become less and less and in another week or two I could have had a very different (and very said) birth story. :-/
Because he was early, he spent a week in the NICU getting some help with breathing, with jaundice, and learning how to bottle feed, but since he came home he's been doing great!
How was your delivery and how is your little guy doing?
Nathan was early as well. My water actually broke naturally on May 12th (37w.4d.) at 12:45AM and contractions started 15 min later about 5-6 min apart. They switched to 3 min apart in about 2 hours. I finally went into L&D around 7:30AM and I was 3cm. By noon I was 6cm. I had really hard back and front labor and around 12:25PM I was 9cm!!! He was born at 1:01PM!!! LOL I only had one hour of hard labor. They tried to use a vacuum to get him out but it wouldn't hold and I pushed him out naturally, no epi. They did an episiotomy but it wasn't horrible. He wasn't breathing and was completely blue so they had to pump him lungs and bring him directly to the nursery and put him under the oxygen hood for 4 hours but they let me see him then and he nursed right away. Thank heavens because he's still nursing excellent now! At our one month checkup he was 9lbs 4oz and I can't wait to see what he'll be July 16th! I couldn't have asked for a better L&D or pregnancy for that matter. He's just perfect.
I'm glad to hear Cole is doing well. That must have been such a scary experience! Let me know how he's doing periodically. I'm on here in the morning usually now...we'll see how much I'm on once I go back to work.

That's awesome that your labor was so short! I'm jealous that you were able to nurse so soon. :-/ I wasn't able to try with Cole until the day before he was discharged (he had an IV in his scalp until that day because he kept pulling his IVs out of his hands!) and by then he was so used to the bottle he fought me like crazy when I tried to nurse, to the point of screaming. So, I EPed for six weeks and couldn't take it any longer, and now he's FF.
Cole was 11 lbs 7 oz at his two-month check up, and up to about 12.5 lbs now according to my scale at home!
