So I talked to the dr and I'm starting my IUI process on Day 1 of my next cycle which should be next week if I don't get my BFP which isn't likely. From what I understand I go in for bloodwork and u/s on day 3 to establish a baseline. Then I take Femara pills on day 3, shots of Follistim on 3-7 and then do another U/S to see how developed the follies are. Then I do a trigger shot to make me O and then 24 hours later is the procedure. I'm not thrilled at the idea of giving myself injections so I'm gonna make hubby do it!! The nurse told me it's like that epi-pen though so maybe I'll do the 2nd one. We'll see! Can anyone offer any IUI advice??
Re: Starting IUI process next week
No advice, Lola.
But heaps and heaps of good luck and baby dust, etc.
I can't offer any advice, just want to say good luck too you.
I made DH give me shots because I am way too much of a wimp. The IUI itself is totally painless. I was worried about it, and took the day off of work. Now I realize that I really didn't need to do it. It's not bad at all!
Good luck!!!
The whole process really isn't that bad. DH was a wimp and didn't want to do the shots on me and didn't even want to watch me do them. I had myself completely upset prior to the first one and it took forever for me to do it, but once I got the first shot done I realized it's no big deal. Just know that the quicker you administer (poke yourself) the shot the less pain there is apt to be and if there is any pain it's very short lived.
Best of luck! If my AF arrives next week (It's due July 9th) I'll be doing an IUI cycle too.
Hi, Lola!
My DH gave me all of my shots. I am a complete wimp. I recommend icing the area for a few minutes prior and then pinching up the skin. Leave the needle in for a few seconds after the plunger is all of the way down to prevent any from running out. The Follistim pen is much easier to use than regular syringes. Check YouTube for some clips of people doing the shots. There are some good ones out there. Good luck!!!
well not much advice to give....it's all pretty easy...except the frequent blood test and ultrasounds. I took Follistim longer then just 4 days...in fact it was nearly 2 weeks but they started me on a very low dose...
This is my 3rd IUI cycle...(i'm currently in my 2WW) so I'm hoping this is it. The other 2 IUI's I did clomid..this was my first on injectables..let's hope!
Good luck to you!
hey there - sounds like we may be iui buddies. i start the clomid later this week if AF ever decides to show her nasty face. the RE prescribed the follistim shot but said they'll administer in the office so all i have to do is bring it with me.
wishing you all the best...
