Do you ladies have any suggestions about girls names that have cute nn? My mom wanted to name me Danielle and call me Danny growing up; but my dad didn't like it--so my middle name ended up being Danielle. I really like the concept of that; however, I don't want to name my child after me. Are there any other names that have unusual but not crazy nicknames?
I really like names like Darby, Winnie, Darla--but my husband wants a more formal name. I like Jocelyn, but call her Josey. What do you guys think?
Re: Names with cute Nicknames- Please Help
My name is Daniella and my family called me Dani. I hated it. As soon as I was old enough for them to take me seriously I asked them not to call me that anymore. The only people who still do are my dad and grandpa.
Anyway, some cute nicknames I like and the formal names are:
Abigail/Abby
Ellen, Eleanor/Ellie
Isabella/Bella
Catherine/Catie
Madeleine/Maddy
I like:
Winter / Winnie
Penelope / Penny
Veronica / Ronnie
Nicole / Nikki or Cole or Coley
Angela / Angie
Victoria / Tori
Charlotte / Lottie
Gretchen / Gretta
Elizabeth / Lizzie
As someone who has been called by a nickname all my life, I'd encourage you to just name the baby what you'd like to call her. My name is Victoria, and I go by Tori. It was always SUCH a pain and embarrassment to have to correct every teacher, doctor, dentist, etc. my whole life. My husband is called by his middle name, and we've already agreed to name our baby by the name he or she will be called.
I know this is a totally personal decision, and I love the names everyone has listed, just thought I'd give a little insight! Good luck picking the perfect name for your little one!
I like these listed.. and also for the nn Ellie, Elizabeth.
I also love the nn Allie for Allison, Alexandra, Alexis (also Lexi for this).
And I like Izzy for Isabelle or Isabella.

Hmmm... I disagree. My name is Elizabeth, I've always been called Liz. I don't find it to be a pain or embarassing to ask people to call me by Liz. Usually I just introduce myself as Liz and that solves the problem. Other people will ask if you have a nn, including teachers, doctors, dentists. I like having a nn, it gives me options. I always know if someone asks for Elizabeth, that they don't really know me! If one day, your child decides she hates her nn, she can decide to be called by her proper name. My husband did that. His name is James. His family & friends called him Jimmy as a child, but in highschool he decided he really just wanted to be James. Now the only people that call him Jimmy are his mom and older siblings.
My daughter is Sammie (Samantha). Our girls name for DS was Cassandra, nn Cassie. We also liked Josephine (Joey or Josie).
