Bedtime?

What is your bedtime routine? When did you start it? What time do you put LO to bed for the night?

I am trying to establish a nighttime routine for DD (almost 6weeks) and would love to hear how you implemented yours. Currently, she calls the shots and when she falls asleep we put her to bed and follow!

My son still calls the shots. We try to put him down around 9, but last night he was partying at 11. I'm not big on routine though.

6:45 bath every other night, nurse (he nurses a long time at night), swaddle and put in crib usually by 8

I think around 6 weeks was when her STTN began.  Around 6 weeks she was STTN from 10ish until 6ish- lucky we know- she is & was a big girl- born 9 lbs 6 oz, so by then she was over 12 lbs & didn't wake to eat at night.  For a routine we'd basically just feed her her bottle & rock until she fell asleep.

Now we start bedtime around 6:30, & she's down by 7, sleeps until around 6 am.  For our routine, we do bedtime bottle & burp, then read a few books.  We put her down as she rubs her eyes, still awake, say we love you & exit.  The putting down drowsy but awake just started working around 4.5 mo.

Her bedtime just gradually got earlier.  She'd yawn & rub her eyes &  we just started putting her down, which was so good for her & us- no fighting sleep.  Good luck!

DS is really fussy in the evenings so we started a routine pretty early on.  We have bathtime around 8:00, nurse him to sleep (usually until 9:00).  He usually wakes up about 10-20 minutes after being put down the 1st time so I swaddle him up tight and offer nursing again, burp him then back to bed he goes.  Tonight it only took the 2nd try to get him to sleep, some nights it takes a few more than that.  So far it is working out pretty good.
