Wow.......a lot of stuff to digest....I kind of felt like I was in a very well organized assembly line. Anyway, I went with DH and DD, but no one told us of their "no children under 14 years old allowed in clinical area policy". So I went in by myself : ( I told the doctor that my DH was here but we didn't know about the no kids policy. He was like, "well live and learn", not obnoxiously, but I felt that he could have either made an exception, or asked me if I wanted to re-schedule. I was very overwhelmed even though I took notes. I don't know how I feel about the doctor yet. He was a bit sarcastic when he found out that DD's name was Brooklyn....I was put off by that as well. Otherwise, he seems to know his stuff, comes highly recommended, and the clinic is very efficiently run. Maybe I was just sensitive.... but still. They drew blood from me, and ultrasound shows I have lots of eggs and my uterus looks fine....YAY! Poor DD was crying in the waiting room for her mama while frazzled DH waited and waited for me. I was then shuffled off to billing where they explained what was covered under my insurance, collected $, etc. Then DH went in for bloodwork when I came out, and I watched DD. When I informed DH he had to provide another SA he was not happy, but oh well. He made an appointment for SA Sunday and asked for the cups so he could do it at home....LOL. I opted to not do the HSG today. I want to find out results of all other tests first, and who knows...I'm in the 2WW now......(fingers crossed.....) I leave for vacation on the 13th. Hopefully if AF shows, she'll come before we leave, and I can do cycle day 2,3, 4 blood work before our next apt. Now I am anxious about finding child care for the next visit in August. Sounds stupid, but we don't have any family or friends near us and DD has never been away both of us. This is what is stressing me out the most believe it or not.
Re: Back from 1st RE appointment......LONG
I am sorry that your appt was stressful..I don't understand the no kid thing...Maybe you could find a friend to watch dd for the next visit...easier said then done huh?
I can definitely see how that could be true.
Oh, how I know that overwhelmed feeling!
Sorry your doctor sounds like a bit of a poop, but if you can put up with it, and he knows his stuff...hey, that's all you need.
Good for you on the lots of eggs!
And may AF stay away, so you can skip the HSG all together.
Me too.
Dr. doesn't sound too good. I had to switch REs because I didn't like the way the first one treated me. Second RE is so much kinder and responsive.
Sorry you didn't have the appointment you expected. As you said, it was a lot of information to collect on your own and that's probably why they don't allow children in the exam rooms. I know I can't fully concentrate when I have to watch my child, even with the help of a spouse. I just booked my appt for later this month and they didn't mention anything to me about not bringing my DS but fortunately we already planned for MIL to babysit.
Good luck with this cycle...maybe you won't have to go back.
The sign on the clinical area door said "Due to insurance reasons no children under 14 allowed." I guess they have a point since a toddler could be a hazard. I just wish someone had told me before coming in. You are probably right about others though, and I understand. Usually we get a very warm response even from strangers. No one smiled or made a peep at us.
