anyone had a paralyzed bladder...

I had a c section five weeks ago today.  A few days after delivery, I was told that I have a paralyzed bladder and it will take time to recover on its own.  It is still not getting better.  I am seeing a specialist, but still waiting for answers.  Anyone have this?  How long did it take to get better?  Did it get better on its own?

What exactly is a paralyzed bladder? I had some discomfort for weeks following my first c-section. My uterus and bladder had adhered, which is pretty common, but mine was pretty severe. I guess I was lucky that I didn't have any serious damage when they dissected the two.

My doctors explained to me that it is when my bladder does not contract properly or at all so I am unable to empty my bladder.

I did the night after my c-section. The catheter had already been removed and I had the urge to go pee but nothing would come out. It became so painful and severly uncomfortable, that they had to reinsert the catheter to empty my bladder twice.... My god! That was so uncomfortable because the epi had worn off hours before that!

I haven't had any problems since then.

Yep thats exactly what happened to me except it is still happening five weeks later.  I have to empty my bladder myself four times a day.  It is getting old and I am ready to be done!

this happened to me too. it was horrible!! i think that you just have to retrain your bladder...but i havent heard of a case where they sent you home without being able to empty your bladder
