  • whew!  What did he say to do to help it or prevent it from swelling so bad

by the way I took a much closer look at the pic and agree that it did look more like a mosquito bite.

I hate those fu(kers.  We had one in the bedroom a couple nights ago.  DH and I both kept hearing it flying near our ears when we were asleep.  We all got bit...including the baby.

    Jerks...poor S!

  • Poor thing!  But at least that's all it is.
  • I saw the pic you posted later on.  That is exactly what R looks like when she gets bit.  I hope it goes away soon.
  • I'm glad that's all it was but man, that was big!  And if it hurt ... poor kid!  I need to break out the insect repellant.  It's been so hot, we really haven't been out much.  Anyone have any recs?

  • Holy crap I just went back and looked at the pic.  I had NO idea mosquito bites could end up looking like that.  Poor S!
  • Glad she's ok!  Have you seen those off fan thingies?  I havne't tried one yet, but if you can keep it clipped to her, it might help!

I swear the cream really does help.  I use it on myself all the time, and my dh gets allergy shots, which get swollen and sore like that and he uses it for that as well.

But why no bug spray?  Did he say?  We wouldn't be able to go outside if it weren't for repellant.

  • My guess is because of the chemicals... I'm going to look in WF to see if they have any "natural" bug repellant. maybe the clip on off thing if I can find it! I agree--how can she go out w/o some kind of repellant??

  • We couldnt use bug stuff on Britt either but we did use avon's skin so soft with some success.  Michelle is the same way....she is so reactive to chemicals and stuff.

  • I didn't see the picture but I can guess what it looked like--a gigantic red welt? I took DD#2 to the doctor a few weeks ago because she woke up with one on her forehead. It was so big and swollen it looked like she banged her head in the middle of the night! Turned out it was a mosquito bite. It went away pretty quickly, so I'm sure your DD's will, too. I went and bought this non-DEET baby bug repellant and DD#2 had a reaction to it, so she can't use it (DD#1 was OK). We are practically prisoners in our own home due to these damn mosquitoes. They are HORRIBLE around here this year--prob. b/c it rained almost every single day in June. Glad your DD is OK!
