Postpartum vertigo??

I'm hoping somebody has experience with this... I had two very brief episodes yesterday of vertigo - I was standing there and suddenly realized the room was spinning/moving back and forth. Each episode lasted a minute, tops. I'm wondering if this could have to do with postpartum and hormone changes, etc - I found a few hits on "postpartum vertigo" online but nothing that was too terribly informative. And of course I've found plenty of troubling info about vertigo in general. Has this happened to anybody else? TIA.

Re: Postpartum vertigo??

  • Were you anemic during the pregnancy? I have vertigo still but I was anemic and still am. I have to take iron daily because my blood count is practically nothing. I'd call the doctor and let them know. Mine made a huge deal out of it so it may be something worth asking yours about.

  • I had it during pregnancy, but have experienced it way before as well.  I know my balance is way off post partum.  Did you gain a lot of water weight and lose it fast?  That could have something to do with it.  Stop googling and call your doc...google can make us nutty sometimes :)
  • I have had vertigo before, but it was from an inner ear imbalance.  I have no idea what caused it, but it lasted for a few weeks and went away on its own.  It was totally miserable.  I have never heard of hormone-induced vertigo.  How would that affect the fluid in your ear?  No idea.  Call a doctor.  Good luck!
  • I had this for about 3 months PP. In fact, I am just now realizing I haven't had it in the last few weeks. It was awful! I started drinking extra water and doubled up on pre-natals. My m/w said there's really nothing you can do about it- it has to do with your body getting back to normal.

    GL!

  • I had some big dizzy spells pp. Definitely no fun. They eventually passed -- it's been awhile since the last one. I just chalked it up to hormones going berzerk and lack of sleep.

    I hope you feel better!!!
