Hi, Everyone.
Short version: Make sure you still have rubella immunity. Those shots we got as kids don't last forever.
Longer version: I got my first results from the pee/blood tests at my first RE visit, and all were normal except I have no rubella immunity.
The doc says contracting rubella while pregnant is bad news.
I had rubella shots as a kid, but duh on me, it never occured to me that the immunity does not last forever. Nor did my obgyn nor regular doc ever suggest I be tested for immunity.
What this means: If I'm not KUd right now (I'm 6 dpo), I will be adding a rubella vaccination to the long list of stuff that will be done to me next cycle. I then have to PREVENT pregnancy for one month. This is good, because with the old vaccine, you couldn't get KU'd for THREE months.
If I am KUd, I can't get the vaccine, and I guess I just have to be careful.
Re: PSA: Rubella immunization and TTC
I had my RE tell me the same thing. Had no idea.
