I'm going to say Deirdre but that's because it's my name.  I really like Saoirse but no one would pronounce it right.

Also spell check changes it to Oral... You have no idea how many emails I have received that have been addresse to Oral Smile

  • I like Briana, Moira, Siobhan, Colleen
  • I love Maeve

    Keeley is also nice.

  • Colleen.  But I am biased as that is my name.   I also like Maeve.

I find too many Irish names really don't work in North America.  No one has any idea how to say them or spell them.

For DD we wanted a traditional Irish name that wasn't overused in the US.  Our short-list included: Aisling, Brigid, Maeve, Clodagh, Brid?n, Ciara.  My favorite names which didn't make the short-list (b/c they would be impossible for 99% of Americans to pronounce) are Grainne (grawn-ya) and Saoirse (sear-sha).
