For DD we wanted a traditional Irish name that wasn't overused in the US. Our short-list included: Aisling, Brigid, Maeve, Clodagh, Brid?n, Ciara. My favorite names which didn't make the short-list (b/c they would be impossible for 99% of Americans to pronounce) are Grainne (grawn-ya) and Saoirse (sear-sha).
Re: What are your favorite Irish girl names
I love Keeley!
My blog: Midwest Chaos
Brona, Maeve, Aisling. My name is Orla and I wouldn't recommend it... people call me everything but Orla.... Olga, Okra, Oreo.. you name it
Also spell check changes it to Oral... You have no idea how many emails I have received that have been addresse to Oral
I love Maeve
Keeley is also nice.
Colleen. But I am biased as that is my name. I also like Maeve.
I find too many Irish names really don't work in North America. No one has any idea how to say them or spell them.
