Help setting up wireless router

I am not at home, but I thought someone might have some suggestions of what to try. We have used our router before (at our old house) and we are trying to set it up again. We couldn't remember the password, so I reset the factory settings. When I click "find a network" it shows ours and shows a good signal 80 - 100%. When I select that network, I have no signal. Anyone know how to fix this?

Oh, and to call the company's technical support it is $39 for 30 minutes. We might as well buy a new one for that. It is Netgear brand.

Re: Help setting up wireless router

  • I don't totally understand the situation, but I assume you have wireless "Enabled" and are able to connect to it (rather than it being a secured wireless connection that you can't log onto with your computer).
  • Loading the player...
  • I am lurking, but had to reset my password recently.  You have to log into the address and reset your password.   Google "reset AP router" and there will be a guide to help you.  You will have to release your DNS also.  The instructions will tell you how.

Once you hard key your password (new or old) then go back and try to log in again.  Worked for me.

    .

It does let me "connect" to it, but I can't get online b/c there is no signal.

  • The weird thing is, we couldn't get on before b/c we didn't know the password. Once we reset it, it never asked for a password.

Also, we reset it, but our profile is still showing.

I am pretty computer savy most of the time, but routers really confuse me.
