BFing Advice needed!

Lately DS has been so distracted by everything around him that he refuses to nurse/drink his bottle, then he spends all day awake and fussing and wants to nurse all night to make up for it.  This has been going on for the entire weekend.

I have tried putting a blanket over him while nursing, turning off the tv, having DH and DS #1 leave the room... but he still finds things he would rather look at then nurse/drink his bottle.

I am hoping that someone else has encountered this problem and can give me some suggestions... I already tried looking in my breastfeeding 'how to' book, but found nothing. :(

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to remedy this issue and preserve the little sanity I have left! :)

  • I just recently bought the mommy/nursing necklace after reading about it here. My LO was getting distracted and also scratching me (ouch!). The necklace is nontoxic and gives them something to look at and play without having to move around or hurt mom. Hope that helps!

My LO is doing the same thing.  She isn't as interested in nursing as she used to be.  She likes to look a round and would rather play then nurse.  She has also been taking forever to eat the bottle becuase she plays with the bottle and looks around.

  • I have to lay in bed w/ DS to keep him focused, that's the only place he'll nurse since very little is happening in our room

  • My son is the same way.  Oddly enough, the one thing that will get him to stop squirming and fighting and latch on to the boob is our Dustbuster.  I dread having to feed him when we're out of the house without the "magic baby wand" as DH calls it!
