Phew! ?Sounds like it's not that big of a deal. ?I think it's just the thought of what they're doing down there that is so disturbing. ?If you don't think about what they're doing, I guess it's really not that bad.
?But I do have to still get an HSG... and until about five minutes ago I didn't realize that that is yet another creepy procedure. How do they inject dye into your uterus? ?Please tell me the needle they inject it with goes in my arm....
Well fortunately they don't use a needle. UN-fortunately they do use a catheter that goes into your uterus. From what I've seen around here the whole HSG experience is different for everyone. If you were to ask around you would get a slew of answers, ranging from "It didn't really hurt at all" to "I thought I was going to die!". lol Me personally, I describe it as the worst menstral cramp times 5 but luckily it only lasts for about 30 seconds.

I have a low tolerance for pain, well at least for somethings. I thought mine was alot worse than my HSG. Putting the catheter in my cervix pinched, but then inserting the fluid it made HUGE cramps I felt like tearing up a bit. It hurt for about 5 mins afterwards. Not trying to scare you but thats what it did for me. I can give myself my shots with no problems though. So who knows, that hurt though.

I'd say it depends on whether the RE requires a full bladder for the procedure - some do, some don't.
Mine did, and for that reason I found the SHG very uncomfortable. (lying on the exam table slightly backward increases pressure on your bladder). My HSG, on the other hand, wasn't bad at all.
It is not too bad, like previous posters have said, it feels like bad menstrual cramps when they inject the dye. For me, it felt that way for about 30 seconds to a minute, maybe...not bad at all. It was a year ago, so I hardly remember.
I had some cramping but not much pain. I made sure I took Advil 4 hours before, and Advil after.

I did not think it was bad at all. I did feel a little cramp but nothing too awful.
