Cervical Funneling?

We had our "big" u/s yesterday and they also did a transvag cervical check.  The cervical check showed some funneling, but the Dr. said my length and everything else looked good.  They want me to come back next week for a f/u.

 Did anyone show funneling on one u/s and not on a subsequent? (he said this was possible)  I didn't ask too many questions yesterday, I figured I would wait and see how next Wed. goes.  Everything I see online talks about funneling in conjunction with a shortened cervix, which I don't seem to have yet.

And what do they do for this?  Bedrest and then a cerclage?

I had this around the same time you did.  Funneling but still a good length.  By my next cervical u/s 2 weeks later the length had gone from over 4cm to under 1.5cm, and I was a fingertip dilated.  I had an emergency cerclage the next day and was on strict bedrest (at home) for 2 weeks after that.  Follow that with modified bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy (until I went into preterm labor at 31 weeks... totally different story though).  It was a scary time and it was far from being fun but as you can see everything turned out ok, and the babes are worth every bit of it.

Good luck!  I've heard stories of the funneling disappearing as well.

I had funneling which disappeared by the next visit. My cervix also got longer from one visit to the next so try not to worry about it until you see what yours is doing. Good luck!

My 24 wk US showed some funnelling, but cervix was still like 3 cm long.....I think it's measured in cm....they want it to be around 3.5 with a singleton pg. They sent me for a NST, and that was fine.  My US this week at 25 wks there was no funnelling.  They think it 'appeared' as funnelling last week because Baby A was feet down...this week he is head down.

I had tunnelling but good length-the Docs were going ummmm, yea this isn't supposed to happen, it's a bit of an oxymoron. The next U/S ( 2 weeks later) showed some tunelling but it had decreased and nobody worried about it after that. So I'm not sure what the next steps would have been, we never got to that point.
