I think he is attractive, and I did like him in Batman and the Prestige. Although, I am told that if I watch American Psycho I will change my mind.
I don't know... I really liked him in American Psycho. He plays the American Psycho who is souless, psycho, and profoundly disturbing. So it seems fitting that he would come off as creepy and unlikeable given the role, kwim?

I guess that would make sense. Lately I have had some issues with "disturbing" movies so I am fearful I would relate him to his character, and not be able to separate. But I guess that is what makes a good actor, in a sense.

Hmm, I thought American Psycho was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I wasn't disturbed, I was laughing, especially when he was running around naked. That movie formed my first poor opinion of him. I liked the Batman movies with him but still think he's overrated.

my heart just broke a little. i adore christian. AAAAND fwiw, as far as the rant tape, Christian Bale is a method actor, and method actors never leave character when they're filming, even if the camera isn't rolling. it's a method i'm not a big fan of, but it is very popular. anyway he was filming Terminator when this happened, and in the midst of portraying an intense character. so not to totally excuse him, b/c he came off like an ass, but he was "in character." my uncle has worked with him and wasn't a huge fan b/c of the method acting, like he couldn't just talk and stuff between takes. but dh and i met him on the subway once and he couldn't have been nicer. or hotter.

Re: NBR: Does anyone else think Christian Bale is overrated?
not a fan.
and sometimes I think he's an overactor
I find him odd. There is something about his mouth and how he talks that just seems weird.
I don't dislike him, but he doesn't draw me to a movie either.

I totally agree with that.
But I do think he is really freakign HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i certainly wouldn't kick him out of my bed.
his regular non action hero type movies are really good.
swing kids, little women, the movie where he loses like 100 pounds forget what its called, etc

His whisper voice in Batman annoys the f**k out of me. Seriously. It ruins the whole movie, well almost... Heath Ledger makes it watchable for me.
