Can we talk diaper pails?

I currently have the Diaper Genie (the original Twistaway not the newer Elite model), I like the way it works but I think the odor control stinks!

I'm looking at the Diaper Genie Elite and the Diaper Dekor Plus. Anyone have these? What do you like/dislike about it? They both seem to be rated well, but the refills for the Diaper Dekor seem pricey. I would like to upgrade before DD#2 arrives, but I want to make sure I'll be happy with what I get.

We have a Diaper Champ and love it.  It uses regular trash bags so no need to buy special bags.

Hands down the Diaper Dekor!!  We have only refilled it once since P was born.  It works great for cloth diapers too!  It only smells when you open it, but the odor goes away as soon as it is closed.  We even store it in our linen closet!!  Thoroughly pleased with it!!  GL!!

We put away our Diaper Genie and got a Diaper Champ. Since the Genie was a gift, we figure we're saving money with the Champ since we use regular trash bags.  It does "fart" though, when you open it.  We have the Diaper Champ Delux, not he regular or classic.  We're thinking the regular may be better at odor control since it doesn't turn over as much air when you put the diaper in it.

I also found that putting as much poop in the toilet as possible helps tremendously.  sometimes it's impossible to do and I think would have been even harder with the BM poops!

You might want to ask this on the 12-18 board. Diaper pails aren't really "challenged" for odor until the kiddo is on solids consistently, you might get some good current into on there.

FWIW, I have a Champ because there was no way I was going to pay for refills. It's fine, but sometimes it smells depending on the stinkiness of the contents. I keep an air freshener in there and keep a can of spray nearby.

I'll be getting the Champ.  One reason is the cost but also I don't need another thing to remember when I go to the store.  I think the refills will be a PITA!

We have the diaper genie elite and love it. No odor ever and I know the refills are extra money it is easy to use and worth it.

We also have the Diaper Champ and I can't complain.  It is great since you can use regular trash bags and it doesn't smell too often.  We also have a  Glade plug-in right near it, so that helps.
