MIL comment...

My Dad was joking around about being in the room when I delivery, I think just to see what I would say (I think he would love to be in there- obviously not in my vag but somewhere in the room where he can't see anything).

I told this to MIL and she goes, "Well, if he's in the delivery room, I'm in the delivery room!" <---wasn't joking either

My thoughts.... :::Excuse me?? You're going to tell me who's in my delivery room????::::

My dad was present during the birth of my DD.  He stayed up by my head and was so excited to be there.  He says it's one of the most happy memories he has.

Maybe she didn't realize that you were joking OR that if you were offering the chance to FIL that the invite should/would extend to her, as well. Just my thoughts.

I love how people just assume that they're going to be part of the party without carrying an invitation.  Sorry no crashers allowed!

EDIT: didn't read close enough. Didn't realize you were talking about YOUR dad and not FIL...understood why you would vent about MIL. Ooops. Sorry.

Even though I think having my MIL and my dad in the delivery room is not such a bad idea, I'm considering that noone, just DH will be there with me....everyone can wait, and come in after DH and I've had a moment with our LO.

My MIL made it clear that she did not feel as though she should be in the room, because its a special experience between DH and I. I thought this was nice until she continued on that she was against MY mom being the room, too. Ummm....not your decision.
