My MIL saw my 14wk ultrasound pictures and persists on calling baby a blob. Every time someone is looking at them, trying to make things out she's like "well its just a blob". It really hurts my feelings that she is calling my beautiful baby a blob. I think it is really insensitive. I get that it is not a crystal clear picture but really -you're describing your grandchild as a blob! Aren't there nicer things you can say? I am sure I am over-reacting but I just do not think it is nice.
Re: Baby called a blob
The baby totally looks like a baby at 14 weeks. I could understand that comment at like 8 weeks, but it has all his/her little parts by 14 weeks. I'd be mad too! I'm mad thinking about it! LOL!

Yep.
It's not the nicest term in the book, I'll agree with that.
I don't think it's a big deal though.
Dh and I called our kid "blob" after the first u/s for awhile too. We didn't mean anything by it.
When I asked my dr what they are looking for when they look at the u/s he said "A jellybean with a heartbeat". I guess it's different than a blob, but I don't think it would bother me unless, like, she is really saying it to be mean. You know??
Agree with pp, sounds like you guys got a bad u/s pic because you should see nubs
