TTC After a Loss

Clomid Question

last time I went to the dr, she gave me a script for Clomid to start taking with my next cycle (it was determined that I wasn't ovulating and that was causing AF to come every two weeks).  I saw her on CD 10.  I had been temping, so I had a general idea as to when I "should" ovulate so I started taking OPKs around CD 14 and got a positive on CD 16 & 17.  i just started spotting today (CD 28), so it looks as if my cycles are back to normal and I did infact ovulate this cycle.  My question is since I am about to have CD 1 tomorrow, should I still get the Clomid?  I am going to call dr, but I wanted to get opinions from the gals as well.  I'm just super stoked that I actually had a 28 day cycle in stead of a 12, 14 or 17 day one!!!  TIA

Re: Clomid Question

  • How many cycles did you have without O? maybe your body was just adjusting after m/c.

No advice besides talk to your dr.

  • I am on Clomid.  Honestly, if I ovulated on my own I wouldn't take it.  I'd say now that your cycles are "normal" again you should give it a month and see if you O again on your own before you start Clomid.  Best of luck to you!

  • i agree with pp.  i took it when i was O'ing on my own and i didn't like the side effects.  maybe if you tell your dr that you O'd on your own this cycle he/she might not want you to take it.  GL
  •  Not to be a cloudy rain on your parade sort of girl.... but I always looked like I O'ed...  but I didn't in fact.  Did they confirm your O with a US or a progesterone check?  A shorter cycle than usual can indicate that you might not have O'ed.... this is what happened to me post m/c.

I even had positive opk's but no O acc to my ultrasounds...

Sorry... but I hope this helps.

  • alice~ were you temping or just using OPK's?  did you get the thermal shift?
  • I agree with pp.  And I have the same questions as Luvs.  Your body may be just adjusting to post mc.  If I did not have to take Clomid, or any other drug to get myself to ovulate I would not do it.  The side effects are nasty.  And they screw with your body.

Also, if you do make the decision to take Clomid...  Please make sure that you are being monitored.

  •  Thank you all for your advice..I had three post m/c short cycles (17, 12 & 14 days)....Abartane, thanks for the rain cause I'm only assuming I O'd based on the + OPK and the fact that I reached a full 28 days....def am going to call the dr and see what her thoughts are...thank you all
