DD will sit on her own (if you get her into position), but she just sits on her bottom, but doesnt' balance with her hands - she's so busy stuffing toys into her mouth she doesn't have time to balance herself out.
yeah, we skipped it. at almost 7 months on the nose she started putting herself in a sitting position and that's it. before that we had to put her in sitting position but she could only balance for a few minutes.
Kiddo never really tripoded either. One day I just stopped helping him balance and he stayed up. He will occasionally put a hand on his feet - I guess for balance - but generally he's waving his arms or stuffing toys like your LO.
My dd I think did the tripod sitting for about one or two days and then figured out how to pull herself up straight and play with her hands. She will balance herself by throwing out her arms to the side if she needs to.
