This is my first month charting and I have been all over the internet looking for answers to my questions, including FF tutorials, and I have also been staring at my chart like it's my job. I need some help with the following questions please ![]()
1. My dog woke me up this morning at 5am - I normally temp at 6am. So, I went ahead and stuck the thermometer in my mouth at 5:10am since I was awake and got a 97.02 reading. I fell back asleep and took my temp when I woke back up at 6:55am and it was 97.75! (I meant to wake up at 6am but our alarm didn't go off) Which temp would you use?
2. DH and I have a glass of wine with dinner several nights out of the week. Is this affecting my BBT or is it just when you go out and get wasted?
3. Does my chart really look like I o'ed? I think it does now with the 97.75 temp in, but when I change that to 97.02, not as much. Do my temps just need to stay above the coverline in order to indicate the shift?

TIA!
Re: Many charting questions - please help :)
1) Always use the first temp. You can always make a note what the second temp was in case you have questions later, but the temp you take when you first wake up is almost always the most accurate.
2) 1 glass of wine with dinner, especially if it's normal for you, shouldn't affect your temps. 2 or more, I would mark "drinking" in FF.
3) I think you probably O'd, but the open circles make it hard to tell. Your temps the next few days will tell you for sure.
thanks for the input - I updated it to reflect the 1st temp.
I guess we will just keep getting busy since it's not super clear!
2. DH and I have a glass of wine with dinner several nights out of the week. Is this affecting my BBT or is it just when you go out and get wasted? I'm going to say when you get wasted. I have wine to some nights a week, and I've never noticed a change, except when I get wasted haha.
3. Does my chart really look like I o'ed? I think it does now with the 97.75 temp in, but when I change that to 97.02, not as much. Do my temps just need to stay above the coverline in order to indicate the shift? Yes, it looks like you O'd CD 14. The thermal shift usually causes your temp to rise 0.4 degrees. The coverline doesn't have any real significance, it only serves as a visual aid.
I don't think your chart shows an ovulatory pattern yet. You need three temps higher than the previous six or so, and you don't have that. The temps on the right are the same as the ones on the left.
Just because fertility friend throws some crosshairs at you doesn't mean you O'd. If your temps are always ambiguous like that, OPK's can be very helpful. Good luck.
And, as far a sex is concerned, you're covered if indeed you did ovulate.
